Why nobody can tell you
The eye-color chart from school is a myth. A study of nearly 195,000 people in Science Advances found 124 genetic variants across 61 regions of the genome behind eye color alone. A whole face — bone structure, skin tone, the smile — involves thousands of variants, per MedlinePlus Genetics. Science can describe the odds. It can't draw the face.
What Bean shows you instead
Bean is a dating app with a different opening move. Before you see someone's profile, our AI blends your two faces into the child you could make together — at birth, at two, and at five. Imagined, not predicted. A portrait of a possibility, made for exactly two people.
Why lead with an imagined child? Because the real question behind “what would our baby look like” was never genetic. It's can I picture a future with this person? That flutter — or its absence — tells you more than a bio ever will. We wrote up the full science in the journal.

Fair questions
- Can any app predict what my baby will actually look like?
- No. Eye color alone involves 61 regions of the genome, and a whole face involves thousands of variants plus environment. Every baby generator — Bean included — imagines a plausible child rather than predicting a real one.
- How does Bean create the baby preview?
- Our AI blends the visible features of your photos and a potential match's photos into one child, shown at three ages: newborn, two, and five. It's a portrait of a possibility, generated fresh for each pairing.
- Who can see a preview of me and someone else?
- Exactly two people: you and them. Previews are never public, never shown to other members, and deleted when either of you deletes their account.
- Are my photos used to train AI models?
- No. Our AI provider processes photos under a data agreement that excludes training. Delete your account and your photos — and every preview made from them — go with it.
- Is Bean free?
- Yes — three swipes a day, previews included. Bean Plus adds ten more for $3.99 a month. That's the whole business model.
